So Reims, if you remember, was an early Bishopric in France, and so a significant town for christianity in the Middle Ages. Here's what I thought and prayed about while there!
- That Cathedrals and churches were actually the "original" prayer rooms, built to help people access God, both through the masses said/given by the priests, but also as a place where people could come to pray, to access God for themselves in the little chapels leading off the naves.
- That what was once built to bring people into the presence of God, somehow along the way, became a method of keeping people at arm's length from Him, and eventually still further, until people gave up trying to come near and "left it to the people(priests) who were 'allowed'"
- Cathedrals were built to be full of signs to direct people TO God; but through pomp and politics and power struggles between church and state, the signs got hidden and now are only recognised as relics of something "past & dead".
- Pray to awaken hearts and intellects and spirits to Your signs once again. Fracture and break up the disconnect which has become a part of people's approach to God and faith in Jesus.
- Awaken the "underground rivers"; to flow, to mix, to water "deep earth" and to release LIFE into the land, the people.
- Raise up a new found song of praise, awaken people's understanding of these "signs", to awaken curiosity and a desire to "see for themselves".
